Reception aged girls attend school full time. There are also options for girls to stay for an extended day via our Breakfast and After School Clubs, as well as provision for holiday care through our on-site holiday camp provider. Find out more here.
We use the EYFS Statutory Framework as a basis for our curriculum while also introducing more formalised learning to ensure the children are ready for Year 1. Although the children still have some opportunities for child-initiated learning, they also follow a more structured timetable based on lessons that cover all the 7 areas of the EYFS curriculum. A number of subjects are taught by specialists who work across year-groups in the School including Physical Education (seasonal sports including athletics, cricket, dance, games, gymnastics, physical literacy, swimming and tennis), Music and French. Computing and Woodland School are taught by the girls’ class teachers.
Within the Reception Curriculum the teachers plan for all the children to have an individualised learning experience. Girls are encouraged and challenged to ensure they learn at their own pace with support and extension activities provided during every lesson. Parents are encouraged and guided as to how to be involved with their daughter’s learning. This partnership ensures every child finishes their Year in Reception ‘Year 1 ready’.
The Reception girls can also choose from a number of extra-curricular activities, including ballet, modern, yoga and various languages.
