Key Stage 1 (Years 1 & 2)

The Key Stage 1 curriculum, for Year 1 and Year 2, is a theme-based, immersive and stimulating approach to learning. Cross-curricular opportunities for reading, writing and speaking and listening are threaded throughout our teaching. Forming the basis of the girls’ learning, our topic approach weaves the teaching of traditional subjects into more approachable and exciting topic exploration.

At Maltman’s Green we are proud of our whole school community ethos where teamwork and collaboration are fostered. Girls join one of our four Pre-Prep Houses where they are mixed across age groups, allowing them to form new friendships and benefit from a supportive network. In Year 2 girls have the opportunity to become captain or vice captain for one of our four Pre-Prep Houses.

We firmly believe that working in partnership with parents is crucial to ensure the girls have the best learning experience possible. This ensures every child finishes Year 2 ‘Prep School ready’.

Physical education includes athletics, cricket, dance, games, gymnastics, physical literacy, swimming and tennis, and girls have access to an extensive extra-curricular sports programme. Find out more.

Educational trips, workshops and guest speakers enrich and extend the curriculum outside of the classroom, and our extensive extra-curricular programme further enhances the girls’ experiences. There are additional clubs on offer to those they had in Reception.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for taking the utmost care of Anaya adapting and settling in to the wonderful world of Maltmans.  As a family we have felt this move has been such an easy process and all our worries and fears were completely diminished when Anaya joined.  We are very proud and happy that Anaya has joined Maltmans and just wanted to show our gratitude that your staff and support has been amazing.
