Bursar

Maltman’s Green is a day prep school for girls aged 2 to 11, situated in the affluent commuter town of Gerrards Cross in South Buckinghamshire. The school has a strong all-round reputation and is a successful feeder to local grammar schools and to a broad range of leading independent senior schools, both day and boarding. With some 350 girls on roll and a strong pipeline, it is the only stand-alone girls prep school in the area and one of the largest schools in the town. We are the only local independent school to offer a day care setting for 2-3 year olds, which is open 49 weeks of the year and has a waiting list.

Maltman’s Green offers high-quality teaching and learning along with exceptional pastoral care and an extensive programme of sports and extra-curricular activities. We are proud of our specialist teaching provision, which starts as soon as girls join us in the pre-prep and includes weekly lessons in STEAM for our girls in Year 3 upwards. We have been rated ‘excellent’ in all areas in our most recent ISI inspection in February 2022 and are proud to have been nominated as a finalist in the recent Independent Prep School of the Year 2024

The school’s finances are strong due to consistent pupil numbers and a prudent and robust approach to financial management. This enables constant re-investment in premises, resources and in the school’s systems and infrastructure. The school is in a confident position to navigate the current political and economic climate, with a supportive, proactive and highly experienced Board of Governors in place.

Maltman’s Green is now seeking a Bursar who will ensure the School’s overall financial health and sustainability, providing leadership to a diverse team of support staff whilst overseeing the delivery and efficiency of the day to day non-educational operations of the School. They will also make a leading contribution to the School’s strategic direction and fulfil the role of Company Secretary.

The successful candidate will either possess professional financial qualifications or demonstrate a strong background in financial/commercial management. They will possess high level communication skills with the ability to listen to others in order to form dynamic and collaborative relationships with Governors, the Headmistress, staff and parents.

Applications are encouraged from candidates with educational, business or public sector backgrounds who have strong commercial acumen and a genuine passion for education.
