13th February 20
On Friday 7 February, a number of choir girls in Year 5 and 6 participated in the Young Voices concert at the Wembley Arena. This concert was part of a series of annual concerts across the UK arranged by the Young Voices Foundation to promote music education and inspire a love of singing and collaboration in schools.
It was a very long day, with a three hour rehearsal followed by the concert itself, but the girls demonstrated remarkable stamina and enthusiasm. The excitement was palpable as the girls entered the Wembley Arena and took to their seats. There were a number of schools participating in the event and the combined choir held over 4000 children in total. The girls sang their hearts out and had the opportunity to perform alongside guest artists such as Ruti, winner of the Voice 2018, The Shires and Tony Hadley. Some highlights from the concert included singing through song favourites like the spooky ‘Frightfest’, the iconic ‘Queen’ medley and the ‘Pop’ medley, as well as being treated to some thrilling performances by the Urban Strides dance group.
We are so proud of how the girls represented Maltman’s Green at this event. It was most certainly a musical evening to remember! The DVD for the evening is available through the Young Voices website or through Mix Pixie.
