BSGA Championships

13th May 19

BSGA GymnasticsOn Saturday 4 and Sunday 5 May, our gymnasts were in action at their final competition of the year: the British Schools Gymnastics Association (BSGA) National Championships, held at Fenton Manor in Stoke on Trent.

On Saturday, Alexandra represented Maltman’s in the tumbling section. She performed three, very powerful and well-executed tumbles, finishing in 17th place in a category with an extremely high standard.

On Sunday, the girls were competing in the Acro competition and the standard of the day was phenomenal. In the morning, Alessia and Lilianne performed in the pairs’ competition. All pairs were numbered, with our girls being 007. When the official greeted us, she asked “Girls what is your mission today?” Alessia quickly replied, “To have fun and try our best”… and they did just that! They performed a delightful routine and finished in 3rd place winning the bronze medals with beaming smiles throughout.

In the afternoon, we had our group Acro girls, Lilianne, Elizabeth, Mara, Katerina, Alessia and Honor. They performed fabulously, wowing the judges with their cleverly choreographed routine. Due to the high standard of Gymnastics, this was an extremely close competition. Our team finished fifth with 8.33, just 0.03 behind 3rd place, 0.2 behind 2nd and 0.23 behind 1st.

Congratulations to all involved in this event, and thank you to our coaches Miss Owen, Miss Timmins and Miss Clarke.
