At Maltman’s Green, we talk often about our commitment to girls “Making Their Way”, not as a tagline, but as a living, breathing philosophy that shapes everything we do. It’s our promise to every girl who walks through our doors: that she will be supported, inspired and guided to find her voice and her confidence to make her way in the world.
Our recent March 2025 Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI) inspection affirmed that our promise is not just aspirational and that it is being fulfilled. We are delighted to share that the school met all of the required standards across every inspection category, including leadership and governance, the quality of education, pupil development, wellbeing, and safeguarding.
The report is not just a list of benchmarks met — it’s a celebration of who we are and what we stand for.
Leadership that Leads with Purpose
The inspectors recognised the strength and clarity of leadership at all levels of the school, describing it as: “Visible, knowledgeable, reflective and strategic.”
They noted how our ethos, underpinned by our guiding principle that “Better Never Ends”, is not just ambition but embedded in daily routines, decision-making and long-term planning. They observed that our ethos fosters high expectations, reflective practice and a strong focus on pupil wellbeing, inclusion and achievement.
Teaching that Sparks Independence and Curiosity
The report praised the quality of our teaching, noting that it is: “Engaging, fostering pupils’ independence, curiosity and active participation in lessons.”
From our systematic early years programmes to our cross-curricular STEAM projects, inspectors saw a school where girls are excited by learning and empowered to think critically and independently. They observed specialist-led lessons in the creative and physical subjects, and highlighted how these experiences enhance teamwork, resilience and wider skill development.
This validation is particularly meaningful because it affirms what our families already know: that learning at Maltman’s Green is rich, varied and personalised — and always designed with each girl’s growth in mind.
A Culture of Care and Inclusion
Perhaps most significantly, the ISI report highlights the warm, respectful and inclusive culture that lies at the heart of our school. Inspectors wrote:
“Leaders foster an inclusive and supportive environment in which pupils are valued.”
“Teachers successfully promote emotional resilience, kindness and self-awareness.”
“Staff consistently foster a culture of inclusion and empathy, enabling pupils to appreciate diversity and demonstrate kindness in their interactions.”
These comments go to the core of what it means to be a Maltman’s girl. Our pupils are not only well taught — they are well known, well cared for and given the emotional tools to navigate life with compassion and strength.
From Wellbeing Wednesdays and peer mentoring to kindness cups and pupil voice initiatives, our girls are learning not just how to succeed — but how to support one another, speak up, and lead with empathy.
Preparing Them for the Future
As girls move through the school, they gradually take on more responsibility and develop leadership skills in real and meaningful ways. The inspectors noted:
“Older pupils take on increasing responsibility, developing leadership skills and integrity, preparing them effectively for future stages of education and their role in wider society.”
Whether they’re acting as House Captains, Mindfulness Ambassadors or Prefects, our girls are not just participating in school life — they are helping shape it.
An Invitation
We invite all parents — current and prospective — to read the full ISI report.
It is a source of pride for us as members of the strong team that is Maltman’s, but also a source of reassurance for you as parents of amazing girls.
Ultimately, this report confirms what we’ve always known: that Maltman’s Green is not just preparing girls for the next stage — it’s empowering them to thrive, lead and make their way in the world with confidence, courage and compassion.
