Physical activity not only plays a significant role in your daughter’s overall wellbeing it also helps her to succeed academically. At Maltman’s Green School, we understand the importance of keeping girls active and healthy. At our school in Gerrards Cross, Buckinghamshire we have a big private woodland that influences our girls to take part in physical activity. Here are some tips for encouraging a love of physical activity.

Incorporate Movement into Her Daily Routine

  • Encourage her to engage in sports, dance, or extracurricular clubs.
  • Regular physical activity boosts concentration, memory, and classroom behaviour, enhancing her learning experience at Maltmans Green.
  • Aim for at least 60 minutes of physical activity each day, whether through organised sports or free play.

Lead by Example

  • Demonstrate a healthy lifestyle by being physically active yourself.
  • Whether it’s family hikes, biking, or sports, showing enthusiasm for fitness encourages her to follow suit.
  • Involve the whole family in physical activities to make it a fun and bonding experience.

Create a Balanced Schedule

  • Prioritise both academics and physical activity in her routine.
  • Ensure she has time for regular exercise alongside her schoolwork.
  • Encourage her to participate in extracurricular sports or dance classes offered at school or in the community. Our Olympic sized swimming pool is open for lessons outside of school if you want to get your girl into swimming.

Highlight the Mental Health Benefits

  • Discuss how physical activity can reduce anxiety and improve mood.
  • Help her understand the positive effects of exercise on mental wellbeing, reinforcing the importance of staying active.
