Environmental consciousness is deeply embedded in our curriculum across all year groups, ensuring every pupil learns the importance of sustainable living. Our pupil lead Eco Council, composed of elected representatives from each year group, leads initiatives such as ‘Walk to School Week’, ‘Switch Off Fortnight’ and campaigns to reduce food waste. Through these efforts, we empower our pupils to take responsibility for the environment and play an active role in promoting a greener, more sustainable future.

We focus on ten key areas of sustainability, each playing a vital role in achieving our environmental goals. These areas include waste, litter, biodiversity, transport, healthy living, energy, school grounds, global citizenship, water and marine conservation. By teaching our girls about these critical aspects of sustainability, we are making their environmental awareness grow and encouraging them to make a positive difference, both locally and globally.

Our Eco Council is at the heart of these initiatives, inspiring and motivating their peers to adopt greener practices. From poster campaigns aimed at reducing food waste to efforts to improve biodiversity around the school grounds, our girls take the lead in driving change.

Sustainability at Maltman’s Green goes beyond just classroom lessons. We encourage hands-on learning experiences, whether through nature-based activities, recycling projects, or gardening initiatives. Each girl learns how her actions can contribute to a healthier planet, and by embedding these lessons into daily school life, we are making their future brighter and more sustainable.

By participating in ‘Walk to School Week’ and other sustainability-focused events, our girls not only improve their own environmental impact but also inspire their families and communities to do the same.

Choosing Maltman’s Green means choosing a school that is dedicated to creating environmentally responsible individuals.

Our commitment to sustainability ensures that your daughter will leave not only with academic success but also with the knowledge and passion to make a real impact on the world around her.
