In today’s fast-paced world, mindfulness is an essential tool to help your daughter manage her stress and stay focused. For girls aged 2-11, introducing mindfulness early can set them up for success both in school and in life. Here’s how mindfulness can benefit your daughter and simple techniques you can use at home.

Building Emotional Awareness

Mindfulness helps young girls become more aware of their emotions, recognising when they feel stressed, angry or upset. By teaching your daughter to notice these feelings without judgement, you give her the tools to manage them in healthy ways. At Maltman’s Green, we incorporate mindfulness into our pastoral care programme, supporting girls in developing emotional resilience.

Improving Focus and Attention
Mindfulness exercises, such as focusing on breathing, can help girls improve their concentration. This is particularly useful during school activities, where staying focused on tasks is key to learning. At Maltman’s Green, we understand that for our girls to stay focused they need some time out of the classroom, our forest area and high quality facilities in Gerrards Cross, Buckinghamshire ensure the girls can explore their creative side and take their mind off of classroom work.

Mindfulness Techniques to Try at Home

  • Belly Breathing: Encourage your daughter to place her hands on her belly and take slow, deep breaths. This helps her focus on the present moment and calm any nervous energy.
  • Guided Imagery: Ask your daughter to close her eyes and imagine a peaceful place, guiding her through a visualisation of a calm beach or forest.
  • Mindful Listening: Sit together and close your eyes, focusing on the sounds around you. This teaches her to pay attention to her surroundings and become present.

By introducing mindfulness into your daughter’s routine, you’ll help her develop essential skills for maintaining focus, calm, and emotional balance. At Maltman’s Green we support our girls from Early Years through to Year 6 working close with families to make their experience seamless.
