Today saw the current ensemble rehearse together for the last night before we lose Year 6 to their secondary schools.
They played through some of their favourite pieces from the current year including William Tell, The Merry Peasant and Trepak from the Nutcracker. I then put them to work cleaning the bells; it always surprised me how much they look forward to ‘bell-cleaning day’!
They have worked very well together throughout the year, working hard on developing their music reading ability as well as being incredibly flexible by swapping stands and bells as needed. Many of the girls performed on the main stage at the Chalfont St Peter Feast Day, playing a 20 minute set of various pieces.
We wish the Year 6 girls all the best for the future and hope that they can persuade their new school’s to purchase some handbells to continue the bell-ringing tradition!
