Last year, our girls were given a Design Technology competition to design a bird hide for our Forest School. The winning design had their bird hide built and it has just opened for business! As part of the project the girls had to make a mini model of their hide and submit it along with a written proposal.
The winner of the competition was announced as Suhavni in 5C. Suhavni says: “My bird hide includes 2 front windows, 3 side windows and a door. Inside it includes the comfort of a bench and blankets. Also shelf space and a cool carpet for the winter. There will be a hook to hang bird feeders to attract birds. To spot the birds there is a window right next to the feeder."
Suhavni diligently worked through her design process, ensuring a prototype was made, submitting drawings for each elevation and coming up with a proposal to make her hide blend in with the surroundings over time.
We are pleased to announce that Suhavni’s real life bird hide is now complete and was officially opened on Friday 15 June.
The hide will be a well-used feature in our Forest School for all of our keen ornithologists.
