Maltman’s Green Swimmers Achieve Silver Medal at ESSA National Finals

19th June 18

Swimming at Maltman’s Green continues to be of the highest standard.

Last Saturday the Year 6 Medley Relay team competed in the finals of the English Schools Swimming Association (ESSA) National Championships held in Sheffield.

The team, comprising Libby, Zara, Victoria and Arabella had to fight hard to reach the finals and as the competition involved all primary schools nationwide it was a huge achievement.

In a very close heat, the girls came second with an extremely fast time which was then topped by their efforts in the final. The girls fought for every inch of water and in a nail biting race they finished second, gaining silver medals.

Swimming Co-ordinator Mrs Judith Foster said ‘the girls have every reason to be extremely proud of their performance in the pool. It is a reflection of a memorable year with many successes. The ESSA result was thoroughly deserved and highlights their efforts and determination.’
