News from the Pool

14th June 18

It has been a memorable week in the pool. News from the Panagraphic League first. This is the competition that runs throughout the year and Maltman’s was again very successful. We had gold medal wins for the 25m Freestyle, 50m Backstroke and the 25m Butterfly. It therefore came as no surprise that we won the Year 6 overall Trophy.

Next up, was the the IAPS National Finals. This year this moved to the London Aquatic Centre and the girls had a rare opportunity to swim in the Olympic Pool. They were assembling outside when the sound of engines made them aware that they were on the flightpath for the aircraft that had performed the flypast for Trooping the Colour. They were able to witness every element – a wonderful sight.

We won a bronze medal in the Year 6 25m Butterfly! In the relays we came 4th in the Medley and 6th in the Freestyle. Both events were closely fought and had nail biting finishes. The girls were as always superb ambassadors for the school – smartly dressed, in position on time and gave every ounce of effort. Well done everyone!
