On Thursday, Year 1 set off on a beautifully sunny day to learn about Plants and Habitats at RHS Wisley Gardens.
The girls took part in a workshop called ‘How does your garden grow’, which included planting their own Zinnea seeds and exploring the Wild Garden. They collected data about plant colours and made lovely flower collages. We also found the Wisley Giant – a ‘baby’ giant sequoia tree that is 100 years old and incredibly tall!
After our picnic lunch, the girls had time to explore the wide range of exotic plants in the glasshouse, they found banana trees, cacti and even a papaya tree! They discovered what was being grown in the vegetable garden and climbed up through the waterfalls in the rockery. We even saw some fluffy ducklings and carp, all splashing around in the pond!
The gardens were stunning and we all had a wonderful time. We would like to thank our parent helpers for making the day so special for the girls.
