Year 3 revamping Holst’s ‘Planets’

17th May 18

This term, Year 3 are exploring the music of celebrated British composer Gustav Holst, in particular “The Planets” which was premiered in London in 1918 and is therefore also celebrating its centenary year!

They have been working particularly hard on developing their collaborative skills, creating music in small groups based on the first four planets that Holst composed and thinking carefully about which instruments would work best for each planet. Some girls have been bringing in their own instruments from home to use alongside classroom percussion and keyboards.
