The Maltman’s gymnasts were in action over the Bank Holiday weekend at the final big competition of the school year. The BSGA (British Schools Gymnastics Association) National Finals were held in Stoke-on-Trent on the 5th and 6th May, and our girls performed exceptionally well.
On Saturday, the girls competed in the Floor and Vault National Finals. They powerfully flew over the vault with some wonderful handsprings, and they delivered a real treat for the audience who were wowed by their spectacular floor routines; which were full of fabulous choreography and gymnastic skills. The U11 age group was incredibly competitive and the girls including Sophie, Arabella, Victoria, Eloise, Libby and Lilianne pulled together as a team to secure their first silver medal of the weekend.
On Sunday morning, our Acro Pair girls; Poppy and Arabella were in action. Despite Poppy’s fractured foot in the lead up to the competition, the girls managed to perform an entertaining and enchanting routine which earned Maltman’s their second silver medal of the weekend. In the afternoon we had the Acro group which involved 6 girls who have all been at Maltman’s since Nursery and Reception. Sophie, Poppy, Arabella, Eloise, Libby and Victoria competed in their last ever competition together before heading off to their respective senior schools in September, and they really did go out on a high! Their Acro group routine had grace, elegance and a sense of fun, landing them back on the podium to collect their third silver medal of the weekend, and finishing just 0.05 behind the gold medallists!
We are incredibly proud of all the girls. They demonstrate their dedication, commitment and hard work, week after week in training with their coach Miss Owen. It is wonderful to see their hard work paying off at the National Finals. Huge congratulations to all the girls!
