On Monday 27 November, girls in Y3, 4, 5 and 6 took part in the first Maltman’s Inter-House Cross Country event. This was the first of a series of Inter-House sporting competitions that will be taking place this year, giving all girls the opportunity to be involved in a competitive environment, whilst also working towards a common goal within the House system.
The girls changed into their PE kit after lunch and headed out to the school field where the cool air was filled with a buzz of anticipation and excitement. The girls (and the teachers!) enjoyed dancing and singing to the music until it was time for their race. The girls were able to choose between the Green race and the Purple race for their age group, and it was fantastic to see so many girls stepping up to the challenge with a positive attitude of grit and determination. With teachers in place around the course acting as marshals, the first of 4 races got under way. For all the races there were huge cheers for the girls as they set off, and when they came back past the spectator area, and especially as they were coming towards the finish. We had some spectacular sprint finishes between the girls. At the end of the race they received a place card which they handed to their house mistress, and afterwards the girls enjoyed a delicious cup of hot chocolate.
A huge well done to all the girls who ran and gave their best performance. Here are the results:
