Brass Demonstration Assembly with Mr Lynch and Brass Group

29th November 17

Last Friday Years 1 through to Year 6 were treated to a musical assembly, given by our visiting Brass teacher, Mr Lynch and his able assistants in the form of our Brass Group (Felicity, India and Molly). The girls played some of the pieces they have been working on and then Mr Lynch gave some background history about the trumpet as well as more practical information about exactly how sound is made from the trumpet (this involved the whole school, including teachers, blowing raspberries!).

Mr Lynch then asked four volunteers to come to the front to hold a long length of hose pipe, on which was attached a funnel and then a proper trumpet mouthpiece. To the amazement of everyone in the hall, he managed to play the Prince of Denmark’s March on the hosepipe! Finishing with the famous Star Wars theme, the girls were then encouraged to contact Miss Guy should they be interested in starting to learn the trumpet or trombone.
