Year 1 Outing to Woolley Firs Environment Centre

12th October 17

On Friday 6 October, as part of our Science learning on ‘Animals Including Humans’, Year 1 had their first outing to Woolley Firs Environment Centre.

We learnt that lots of animals have a ‘super sense’, like the fox who has an amazing hearing and the sparrow hawk which has fantastic eye-sight. We imagined that we were different animals and practised using our senses. We had to find our way around a mole assault course using our sense of touch and we made smelly magic potions in the herb garden, whilst learning about how the badger uses its sense of smell to navigate the world!

We explored the woodlands and looked at the huge variety of colours, textures and shapes that there are in nature. We even found some seeds that rattled!
We had a fabulous day and were incredibly lucky with the weather!
