On Monday, the Year 1 girls togged up in their waterproof gear and set off to RHS Wisley to enhance our Science and Geography learning all about Plants and Habitats.
The girls took part in a workshop called ‘How does your garden grow’, which included planting their own Sunflower seeds and exploring the Wild Garden. They collected data about plant colours and made lovely flower collages. We also went on a hunt to find the Wisley Giant- a ‘baby’ redwood tree that is 100 years old and incredibly tall!
After our indoor picnic, the girls had time to explore the exotic plants in the glasshouse, as well as go underground to find out more about plant roots. They discovered what was being grown in the vegetable garden and climbed up through the waterfalls in the rockery. We even saw some fluffy ducklings and carp, all splashing around in the pond!
Despite the rain, the gardens were stunning and we all had a wonderful time. We would like to thank our parent helpers, Mrs Balding, Mrs Sultan and Mrs Gupta for making the day so special for the girls.
