Year 5 Swimmers National Champions

9th May 17

The finals of the 2017 IAPS Swimming Competition took place at the K2 Leisure Centre in Crawley on Saturday 6th May It was a hugely successful day for the girls. Both Year 5 and Year 6 were strongly represented and all teams recorded strong performances.

The Year 5 team proved to be the stars of the day, becoming national champions. The team comprising Libby, Zara, Victoria and Arabella stormed to victory in the medley relay, winning the gold medal. This coupled with Victoria’s outstanding performance in the Year 5 individual 25m butterfly event in which she won a silver medal, meant that the girls were joint winners of the year 5 overall team trophy, making them again national champions – an incredible achievement.

Swimming Co-Ordinator, Mrs Judith Foster, said, "This is a highly prestigious nationwide competition with more than 4,000 swimmers from 250 schools taking part. To reach the finals at Crawley was true accomplishment and their deserved success is a reflection of their hard work and dedication they have shown throughout the year."
