U11 Friendly Football Match v Gayhurst

22nd March 17

On Tuesday 14 March a group of Y4, 5 and 6 Girls went to Gayhurst School for a friendly football match. The girls have been practicing on a Friday lunch time with Mr Collett and this was a lovely end to the season.

The girls were really excited; and for some, it was their first time representing the school at a sporting event. After a quick warm up the match got under way. We played a 7-a-side game, and decided to do 4 quarters of 5 minutes so that the girls could switch around and get more coaching and advice during the game.

We started off well with an early goal scored by Helena. The smiles on the girls’ faces were fantastic and they looked as if they were thoroughly enjoying themselves. Just before half time Helena scored our second goal and our parents were doing some wonderful cheering for the team!

In the second half Gayhurst made a bit of a comeback with an amazing goal from the half way line up and over the goalie. Despite our best efforts and pressing forwards on the attack, Gayhurst scored the final goal of the game to make the end result a draw at 2-2.

The girls all did a wonderful job! Congratulations to Niamh, Darcy, Anaya, Rebecca, Rehna, Helena, Zahra, Bella, Georgie, Rebecca, Hannah and Masha.
