Milano Nationals

22nd March 17

Back in January, 4 of our Y6 B Squad girls took part in the Milano Regional Gymnastics Competition. They did fantastically well and finished 2nd overall which qualified them for the National Finals.

On Saturday 11 March, the girls travelled to Fenton Manor Sports Complex in Stoke on Trent. The girls in the team were Zoe, Anya, Sienna and Ellie. The girls were quite nervous as it was their first time competing at a National Final. The whole day was a new experience for everyone, but with wide eyes, and a bit of excitement to accompany the nerves they began their competition. The girls warmed up, and their first rotation was the group sequence. They did a marvellous job and performed really well. After a lunch break they then went back to warm up for their individual floor routines. All the girls performed to their absolute best and looked fantastic. The final rotation was on the vault where again the girls did their best and received some really good scores for their work.

The Milano Nationals is a team competition, not only for schools but also for regions. We were teamed with Stoke Poges representing the Southern Region and finished in 3rd place overall.

As a school we finished in 9th position out of 24 which is an incredible achievement especially when you consider our B Squad girls were competing against the top gymnasts in the country in both the independent and the state sector.

Well done girls!
