On Friday 3rd March our U9 girls were competing in the first of the 3 day ISGA National Championships. The girls in the team were Lilianne, Alessia, Mathilde, Katerina and Francesca.
The event was held at Tormead School in Guildford and mixture of excitement and nerves were running high. There were 55 girls competing in the U9 age group from 11 different schools. After a good warm up with their coach Miss Timmins, the girls were ready to compete. They started on their set floor and then moved onto their voluntary floor which are their individual routines to music. Following that they did their set vaults and then their voluntary vaults. Finally at the end of the day they performed their group routine. The girls all did their best and really performed to the judges.
The results proved that all their hard work had pulled off. The girls were crowned Group Sequence National Champions, 2nd place team overall and Lilianne finished a fantastic 3rd position in the overall individual competition. All our girls finished in the top 20 individually.
On Saturday 4th March the U10 team were competing. The girls in the team were Libby, Poppy, Victoria, Arabella and Sophie coached by Miss Owen.
There were 60 girls competing in the U10 age group from 12 different schools. The girls started their competition in the afternoon with their group routine being their first rotation. They then moved onto voluntary vault where they performed some lovely handsprings. Set floor was next, followed by some gorgeous voluntary floor routines and the girls finished off their competition on the set vault.
The girls finished in 3rd place for their group sequence, 3rd team overall and Sophie finished in 4th place in the overall individual competition. All our girls finished in the top 20 individually.
Sunday 5th March was the last day of the 2017 ISGA Nationals and our U11 girls and Miss Owen were in action. The girls in the team were Emma, Haniya, Sofia, Rebecca and Laura.
The U11 age group was a big competition with 78 girls competing from 16 different schools. It was an early start for the girls as their competition started in the morning. They also begun with the group sequence and then were off to voluntary floor. They really did shine and sparkle when performing their routines. Next they went to set vault, followed by voluntary vault and finally performed their set floor routines to finish the day.
We had quite a long wait in the afternoon until the presentations, so the girls, parents and the coaches all headed to Pizza Express for a lovely lunch. Thank you to the Y6 parents for organising this.
The girls finished 5th place in the group sequence and 4th team overall. 3 girls finished in the top 20 individually.
Following a hugely successful competition for each age group, there was an overall result and we’re very proud to announce that Maltman’s Green finished in 2nd place overall. All the trophies from the weekend will be sent off to be engraved and will then be kept in the trophy cabinet in the main entrance for everyone to see.
Congratulations and well done to all the girls and their coaches!
