We have been celebrating Book Week all week here at Maltman’s Green. We’ve had a Roald Dahl theme running through the week, even the canteen has joined in the fun with their wonderfully tasty Wormy Spaghetti (The Twits) and Bruce Bogtrotter’s Chocolaty Pancakes (Matilda), amongst many other delightful dishes.
2016 marked 100 years since the birth of Roald Dahl, famous for captivating young minds with his stories, and during Book Week, we hoped to spread a little of the fun and marvellous magic found in his books, as the girls participated in a range of ‘Dahlicious’ reading-related activities to celebrate his anniversary.
Throughout the week, the girls had the opportunity to read with other year groups as part of the ‘Big Friendly Read’.
Junior School girls had an exciting drama workshop at school based around Fairytales and Fables. On Thursday the girls had a special baking session with Chef Anton, to bake their own chocolate mug cake. This earned the girls a ‘golden ticket’ to take part in our Golden Time on Friday, where they decorated their cake.
We rounded up our Book Week with our ‘Dahlicious’ Dress Up Day. On Friday the entire school was taken over by a whole host of gobblefunking Big Friendly Giants, wonderful Willy Wonkas, fantastic Mr Foxes, a multitude of Matildas and other splendiferous Roald Dahl characters.
We had such fun and can’t wait until next year’s Book Week!
