Year 1’s Victorian History Day

13th February 17

On Wednesday 8 February Year 1 went back over 100 years ago to the time of Queen Victoria. The children and the teachers dressed up and spent the day as Victorians.

All the children had a lesson in a Victorian classroom with very some strict teachers! They got to go on a tour of the older parts of the school finding all the fire places, counting the chimneys and finding out what a bedpan was used for. The girls had the chance to play with some traditional games and toys, as well as help with the washing! A great deal of learning went on as well as lots of fun.

Special thanks go to Mrs Wakefield, Miss Weldon, Mrs Stephenson and Mrs Taank who dressed up and spent a lot of time leading the washing activities! Thank you to all the parents for their help with costumes.
