U11 Netball Tournament at Warwick Prep

8th February 17

The Year 6 A and B teams had an early start on Saturday morning travelling to Warwick Prep to take part in their annual netball tournament. The A team played four group games, unfortunately losing their first game 5-6 to Bluecoats, in a closely fought match. They found their stride in the second match defeating St Helen’s and St Katherine’s 8-1. In another close game the A team beat the hosts Warwick Prep 4-3, then went on to win their final group game against Croft 7-4.

Although topping their table with 16 points along with Warwick Prep, their group position was Runner up going on goal difference. However with a place in the semi-final secured they continued their good run with a strong performance against the other group winners King Henry VIII, with another 7-4 win.

The A team met Bedford in the Final and were 1-5 down in the first half. In the second half they began to build momentum and made a very strong comeback, though just ran out of time to catch up and finished losing narrowly with a score of 4-6.

Well done to all of the girls for a great team effort and a final position of tournament Runners up out of 10 teams.

The B team also played in the tournament in the B teams and small school section.

With a great start to the competition the B team won their first game 5-1 against Croft B team. They continued their winning streak for a further three games defeating Warwick B 3-1, Stratford 1-0 and Spratton B 6-1 only to lose their final group game 0-2 to Crackley. Finishing their group section as winners they went on to play St. Martins in the semi-final, winning their match 3-2. With only the final to go and excitement building with both teams playing in their section finals, the B team having had an fantastic run unfortunately were not able to finish with a win and although made every effort in the final their eventual place was also Runners up out of twelve teams.

Well done to both teams on an excellent morning of netball, thank you to all the parents who came to support, to Miss Clarke for managing the B team and Mrs Foster for her constant support of both teams throughout the tournament.
