Swimming Report

12th December 16

The last few weeks of term have been busy ones in the pool. Lots of girls have had the opportunity to take part in galas, many for the first time and many have learnt that competitive swimming can be a fun experience , if the size of the smiles at the end of the event, is anything to go by.

Our first gala was the annual fixture against Godstowe. It is always a hard fought, albeit friendly competition. This year it was particularly close, with fingertip touches winning the day on many occasions. In the end MGS achieved a very creditable win.

We then moved on to the next round of the Paragraphic League. Due in no small part to outbreaks of plague and pestilence, fielding full teams proved to be a challenge. However it meant that we achieved one of the main aims of the league at this stage – to include as many untried swimmers in the teams as possible, to give them experience in a competitive setting. Huge thanks go to all the girls involved, especially the ones who were called upon at very short notice. Absolutely everyone rose to the occasion.

Finally it was time for some fun. Gayhurst readily accepted the invitation to a Christmas Gala – laughter and smiles being the order of the day. Hoops and tunnel races and a magic carpet ride brought the swimming term to a close.

On behalf of all the Swim Team, thank you everyone who has been involved this term. Have a very Happy Christmas.
