Christmas is almost upon us, and we are already in full swing here at Maltman’s Green. The Year 2 girls performed their nativity, ‘Lights, Camel, Action’ to their enthralled parents on 1 December – and what a show! The Bethlehem Broadcasting Company recorded a dazzling dance show to celebrate the special occasion of Jesus’ birth and the cast was jam-packed with nativity celebrities. Personalities, including some funky camels and a disco star, came together to recall their roles in the miraculous story. It’s was a Christmas celebration like never before, with dance styles ranging from tango to line dancing and ballet to disco. The judges enjoyed scoring the dancers ‘Strictly’ Style!
The following afternoon, our Year 1 girls put on their delightful production called ‘Baubles!’ The audience were delighted to see their daughter’s acting and singing with such gusto! With quirky characters such as directionally-challenged kings, a moody donkey and a sheep that snores its’ way through an angelic visitation, the girls created plenty of humour for their audience.
Our final nativity performance took place on Friday 9 December, when the Early Years delighted their families with their nativity ‘A Wriggly Nativity’ – this show demanded that every single child, angel or sheep, channelled her excited energy and squirming enthusiasm into telling the nativity story – and they did it so well!
In addition to these performances we also hosted two Candlelit Carol Services, where guests were treated to a mix of traditional and more modern carols and Christmas songs performed by our Senior and Chamber Choirs as well as the flute, brass and handbell groups. Years 3 and 4 sung ‘Everywhere, Everywhere, Christmas tonight!’ – songs from around the world, with narration explaining how Christmas is celebrated around the World. Years 5 and 6 treated their parents to some of their own Christmas compositions which were brilliantly performed. A fitting round-up to our Christmas celebrations.
Well done to all our performers you all excelled yourselves!
