Admissions | Joining Maltman's Green

Entrance

Maltman’s Green is an academically non-selective school. The admissions procedures are there to ensure that every girl joining the school can benefit from the environment offered. Places are subject to availability, with additional places in Reception, Year 1 and Year 3.

  • Entry is open to girls aged 2 to 11. All pupils are required to complete an assessment process appropriate to their age.
  • Little Malties is a ‘year-round’ full day care facility, with mornings, afternoons or all day provision available.
  • Nursery is for 3-4 year olds, and girls are eligible to join in the September after their third birthday.
  • In Reception we take 'rising fives' with a maximum of 18 girls per class.
  • Our Junior School consists of Year 1 for 6-7 year olds, and Year 2 for 7-8 year olds with a maximum of 20 per class.
  • In Senior School (Year 3 to 6) we have a maximum of 16 girls per class.

Open Mornings and Visiting the School

If you are interested in enrolling your daughter at Maltman’s Green, we strongly recommend that you (and your daughter) visit the school and meet the Headmistress. There is no substitute for seeing our girls hard at work and play and being able to discuss your needs in person. Click here for more information.

Stay & Play: The Early Years Open Morning

On a Saturday morning, once a term, we hold complimentary Stay & Play Sessions for 1-3 year olds. The purpose of these sessions is to give you and your daughter a taste of life in our Little Malties Day Care and Nursery classes. Places are limited so please book to avoid disappointment. Find out more and book your space here.

The Admissions Process

Parents wishing to register should complete a registration form (available at our Open Days or at your school visit) and return to the Registrar with a fee of £100. If you do not have a registration form, please contact us.

Once registered, your daughter will be invited to visit us and spend time with her peer group in class. During her visit she will be assessed so that we have an understanding of her individual abilities and development. After this, a formal offer of a place will be made if it is felt that she will benefit from the opportunities at the School and that the School can cater for her needs.

After acceptance of the offer, depending on the time of year, you will be invited to our annual Parents’ Morning in March, another opportunity to visit with your daughter and enjoy all the various activities taking place.

In the summer term, all current and new parents are invited to attend an induction evening, where the relevant teaching staff will present an overview of the coming academic year for your daughter. Also in the summer term is our Familiarisation Morning which gives your daughter the opportunity to meet her form teacher, make some new friends and look around her classroom. The Familiarisation Morning helps your daughter settle into the school and quell those first day nerves she may otherwise feel in September.
