All of these clubs are for girls who enjoy their swimming and are eager to work hard to improve. The sessions are differentiated to allow the girls to work in a supportive environment of girls at a similar level to themselves. The sessions include a variety of activities including a thorough warm up, drills, endurance, sprint, strength training, water polo and an occasional much deserved ‘fun’ session!
Netball:
- U11 Netball Squad is selective, it meets for one lunch time session, plus once a week after school, to train towards the local competitions & matches culminating in the prestigious IAPS Regional and National Netball Tournaments.
- The Under 10 Netball Squad is selective. It meets for one lunch time session and once a week after school to train for interschool matches and tournaments. The aim is to improve skills and introduce team tactics to prepare for the Regional and National Tournaments in Year 6.
- Year 4 Netball Club is held to encourage all pupils in Yr4 to take their interest and enjoyment in netball to a deeper level of understanding and performance. It is non-selective and runs during the lunch time after October Half Term onwards. A match for all regular players is held in March (at the end of the netball season).
Tennis:
The opportunity for extra group sessions with a professional tennis coach is available from Year 1. Squads are introduced in Year 2 for competitive play and internal tournaments are held to give the girls match practice. Occasionally girls are selected for individual lessons, where necessary or appropriate. Friendly competitive play with local schools is enjoyed, which helps encourage the spirit of fair play. We enter two teams in the Under 12 Bucks Cup and conclude the Summer Term at the IAPS tournament.
- Year 1 - All girls are offered a lunchtime slot during class tennis.
- Year 2 - There are two group sessions and some girls are selected to attend a squad session.
- Years 3-6 - In each year group there is a group session and a squad session.
- The criteria for selection into the squads are: commitment, co-ordination, athleticism and enjoyment of the game. Girls can move in and out of the squads depending on individuals progress and attitude.
Judo:
Judo is available for Years 2 - 6 girls as a recreational extra-curricular activity on a Saturday morning. The girls enjoy experiencing sport not covered in the curriculum and it is non-selective.
Golf:
Although Golf is introduced as mini golf in the Year 3 games curriculum, it is followed by Saturday morning coaching with full sized equipment for Years 4 – 6 in the summer term. The older group have a visit to a professional golfer and have the opportunity to play a nine hole round on a Par 3 course. Further out of school development and a reference for membership of a local Golf Club is available to girls who wish to continue with their golf.
Ballet:
The Ondine Academy is responsible for teaching Ballet at Maltman’s Green and to date have had a 100% pass rate success in ballet exams. The Royal Academy of Dancing syllabus is taught at all grades. Exams are organised each term so that pupils may progress whenever they are ready and are not obliged to wait for others in their class.
Modern Dancing:
We have recently introduced Modern Dance into our extra curricular syllabus and the girls are enjoying new experiences, styles and music in their lessons.
Football Club:
A non selective club, holds three training sessions a week and is open to all girls from Year 4-6. We are keen to increase our participation in inter-school matches and tournaments.
