Excellence with a sense of fun!

Extra-Curricular | Music

The Music department is a hive of activity and achieves an excellent standard.

A large proportion of the girls learn at least one instrument in school. There are numerous groups and ensembles that enable the girls to play together and enjoy making music with others. There are three choirs, an orchestra, a flute ensemble, string group and chamber strings and not forgetting the hand bell team, “Maltman’s Belles”.

Choral music is a strength of the school. There is a Junior Choir, progressing to Senior Choir as well as the Chamber Choir. The Senior Choir performs annually at the O2 London, for the Young Voices concert series, performing with many other schools. Many girls participate in local music festivals, with singing being a strong category for Maltmans girls.

We currently offer tuition in eight different instruments (piano, flute, violin, cello, saxophone, clarinet, trumpet and oboe) as well as singing. There are several practice rooms where girls are taught individually or in small groups, and where they can also practise during break times.
