Games
Key Stage 1 & 2 pupils enjoy 2 lessons of games per week. Key Stage 1 is a more general build up of physical co-ordination skills, group or team tasks and challenges. Key Stage 2 channels and develops pupils’ basic skills so that they can participate in formal games, with rules and tactics, as well as be members of clubs and squads to pursue excellence.
Top teams compete at district, regional & national levels with various sports organisations in Netball, Tennis, Rounders & Football. Other (curricular) games include Hockey, Pop Lacrosse, Mini Cricket, Square Rounds & Mini Golf.
Recently there has been a greater emphasis on rounders at Maltman's Green both in the curriculum and in Squad practices. The girls now compete in the IAPS knockout national event with increasingly successful results. It is a very exciting area of development in our sports programme.
Our facilities offer several outdoor areas, with various surfaces, and indoor usage. A wide selection of excellent quality equipment is available to assist the learning of new skills and advance those already mastered. The PE department constantly renew and update sports equipment so that the girls have the best possible apparatus to enhance performance and learning.
