Curriculum | Senior School (Age 7-11)

Our Senior School starts in Year 3 (7-8 years old) and ends in Year 6 at 11. At this stage, the girls become highly independent and develop their confidence as well as their skills and knowledge. Maltman’s girls are well prepared for their senior school in every way.

In Year 3 there is a sharp increase in specialist teaching and by Year 4, pupils are taught entirely by specialist teachers in ICT, Design Technology, Maths, English, Science, History, Geography, Religious Education, French, Art, Music, Drama, PSHE, Handwriting, Problem Solving and Physical Education.

The specialist teaching is enhanced by purpose built facilities which include specialist subject rooms, two Science laboratories, two ICT suites, an Art and Design studio and a Craft, Design Technology room. The Music wing includes two teaching rooms and numerous individual teaching rooms. A 6 lane 25 metre indoor pool, two gymnasia and playing fields provide excellent facilities for Physical Education.

The School has an enviable record of success in a range of public examinations including Common Entrance, Scholarships to many of the leading Public Schools and the Buckinghamshire Grammar School 11+ entrance exam.
