Reward Systems
The emphasis at Maltman’s is firmly on the positive. We have several ways in which girls who contribute positively to the school are rewarded. This goes beyond merely rewarding the academic, but encourages a sense of community and the knowledge that those girls who quietly do an immense amount of good behind the scenes also know that their efforts are appreciated.
Plus (pink):
- Given for an exceptional piece of academic work
- Given for excellent work sustained over a period of time
- Given for determination and effort over a period of time
Citizenship Plus (yellow):
- Given for an exceptional act for the good of the school community
- Given for an exceptional act for the good of the wider community
- Given for sustained commitment to a position of responsibility
Eco-Plus (green):
- Given for an act of exceptional commitment to sustainability
- Given for sustained commitment to improving the environment
Minus (blue):
- Given for a single gross misdemeanour
- Given for sustained poor behaviour over time
Action on Minuses:
- First Minus, Form teacher speaks to the child & they lose 5 Housepoints
- Second Minus, Form teacher and House Leader speaks to the child and they lose 10 Housepoints – Form teacher speaks to the parents
- Third Minus, Form teacher & SMT member speaks to the child and the parents are invited in to discuss it. Again, 10 Housepoints lost.
Maltman’s Reward System
In the Senior School at Maltman’s we use our own unique style of Reward Star which have been specially designed for us and complement the star rewards given to the Junior girls.
These are allocated as follows:
Years 3, 4, 5 & 6
- 25 – bronze (1 Star)
- 50 – silver (2 Stars)
- 75 – gold (3 Stars)
- 100 –purple (4 Stars)
When the girls get 100 pluses they receive a Certificate to be presented in Assembly
- Girls will exchange the bar they have to receive their next bar.
- They keep the bar they have reached at the end of the year.
- Pluses gained towards the next bar will be carried over into the next year, but girls start again with a one star bar
- Citizenship and Eco pluses count equally to pluses for academic work.
