There are two Art Clubs for children in Years 3-6. Art Club is the time for each pupil to enjoy the many different areas of this subject that perhaps they have not experienced before. An experimental approach is encouraged in all activities with a maximum number of twenty pupils attending.
Activities have included collage, mixed media, glass painting, drawing, painting, machine sewing, embroidery, batik, silk painting, and candle making. The pupils also have the opportunity to just make a simple card for a birthday card or perhaps a Mother or Father’s Day card. The choice is theirs.
Pottery Club is an extension activity available for a maximum number of ten pupils and is part of the regular Extended Day programme. The pupils have the choice of different techniques to advance their skills and dexterity. Areas of learning include throwing, sculpture, moulds, coiling, slabware and thumb pots with the additional use of under-glaze colours, slip, and various earthenware and stoneware glazes to decorate their creations.
The teachers guidance is on hand at all times to ensure new skills and new found confidence is achieved by each pupil with the reward that the result of their labours will last more than a lifetime!
