Curriculum - Learning Support

Although the number of children with diagnosed special needs is small, Learning Support is integral to our teaching. We have a well qualified Head of Learning Support who is both a teacher and an Educational Psychologist. She leads a team of teaching assistants who provide support in the classroom as well as a literacy support teacher who works with individuals and groups as appropriate.

We are able to provide specialist support for a number of specific conditions such as dyslexia as well as providing support for children who are experiencing a degree of difficulty with a particular aspect of their learning. An example would be a young child who has not yet acquired a firm grasp of phonics and needs to revisit certain sounds. Another might be someone who has missed a vital element of Maths understanding and cannot therefore move forward until this has been re-taught. Some children simply need a little more time to become confident in some subjects.

As well as this, there are innumerable academic support clubs as the girls progress up the school to help with their examination preparation.

Our aim is to provide all the support needed to enable the girls to work with confidence and fulfil their potential.
