Curriculum - Subjects - Religious Education

RE is a valued subject at Maltman’s Green. The girls have a weekly lesson in which the major religions of the world are studied. In the spirit of the 1988 Education Reform Act, we seek to ‘reflect the fact that the religious traditions are in the main Christian, while taking account of the other principal religions represented in Great Britain’.

Studies in class are complemented by visits to places of worship such as our local parish church of St. James’s, a Synagogue, Gurdwara or Mosque.

Whenever appropriate parents and visitors of different faiths are invited in to school to talk to the girls. The girls are encouraged to think about different aspects of each religion and to ask questions. A regular visitor to Maltman’s Green is our Area Bishop, the Rt. Revd. Alan Wilson, Bishop of Buckingham.
