Curriculum - Subjects - Geography

We learn about our natural physical environment, global location and how man affects and changes it.

Fieldwork plays an important part. This is through local surveys done in the area surrounding the School, as well as by visiting the nearby Amersham Field Centre. Here highly qualified tutors guide the girls' interest in rivers, weather recording, orienteering, map work and even include specially designed Barnaby Bear activities for our younger pupils.

Coastal Fieldwork is undertaken during a residential trip to the Isle of Wight or Norfolk. To further enhance learning, visiting speakers come to talk to girls about their personal experiences of life in different parts of the world.

We aim to stimulate the girls’ interest, often building on their own experiences. The girls sense of citizenship and global responsibility is awakened leading to them becoming much more aware of the world around them and the impact man’s activities have on it.
